Interpreting without a booth: tour guide when that is enough.

Not every meeting needs a sound-isolated booth. For tours, short addresses or small groups, tour guide and receivers can be enough — with a technician when the setup requires it.

Tour guide receivers and a transmitter ready for hand-out

When without a booth is sound

The group moves, the address is short, or the interpreter already has a place in the room. Then wireless receivers and a transmitter can carry the audio without an ISO booth.

When the programme is long, languages run in parallel, or isolation is required, we point back to a booth. We do not sell «cheap simultaneous interpreting» as a substitute for ISO when ISO is needed.

Silent meeting as an alternative

Several sessions in one room without loudspeakers are often solved with silent meeting — headsets and channels, not a booth.

Questions

Is a tour guide system the same as booth SI?

No. Tour guide is a listening system. A booth gives an isolated workplace for simultaneous interpreters over time.
